Last to Die A gripping psychological thriller not for the faint hearted eBook Arlene Hunt

Wasn't as good of a book as I expected, but I still quite enjoyed it. I read it in a day (Not because I couldn''t put it down, but more of a "I'm stuck in a car for 12 hours, might as well read the book all the way through" type of situation. I do feel that the description is a bit misleading, I wouldn't have described it as a "gripping psychological thriller not for the faint of heart", not because it wasn't a psychological thriller, but because it wasn't as intense and thrilling as they led me to believe. There was no heart pounding, "oh my gosh, no they can't, that's a bad idea, what's going to happen?!" type of feeling, once I finished the book I thought "well, I enjoyed that, but it definitely wouldn't make it on my monthly love list. Or on any of my favorite lists. I probably won't reread this book, but I did enjoy it, so I didn't feel as though my money was wasted. It was written well enough, and the plot was consistent, though i felt at some points the author was throwing a twist into the book just because she could. All in all, I would say if you're interested in this book, go ahead and pick it up, read it, just don't have crazy expectations of it being the best book you ever read, if you're looking for intense emotion from a book that wraps you in fear and excitement I don't think this book will necessarily give that to you, and you might be better off looking at a different title. However, if you are like me and enjoy reading, and like an interesting story with a thrilling aspect, you might enjoy this book.

Last to Die A gripping psychological thriller not for the faint hearted eBook Arlene Hunt Reviews

I know the reviews are all over the radar but I bought this book and was glad I did.....this book moved at a break neck speed and kept me riveted from the get go...…..rare are the times I've read many thrillers written by woman authors that was able to keep me glued to the last page like ARLENE did here and no doubt will check out her other writings!!
Seems like I have read too many books lately about maniacal men haunting and hunting outrageously strong women in desperate peril. This is another one. But this is well written and really grabs onto you. I always want to get deep into a character's personality, but that wasn't necessary here. You knew whose side to be on and you had to find out what happened next. Very satisfying thriller with perfect ending. Thanks, Ms. Hunt.
You do know books end. Some shouldn't, like this one. So many directions this book could have taken, it was fun guessing the turns. You become involved with the well devloped characters. Not all are as well developed as some, but, strangely works for this story. Why does it work? Leaves room for a read alone series...Yay! I would even like to read more about Jesse and Mike. So many possibilities here just from this one book! This story reads like a true life event, granted a dark one. If that bothered us readers, well, we wouldn't have purchased the book, would we? I've been reading for decades, in all types of genres and media's, and recommend "Last to Die." This is my first with author Arlene Hunt and will enjoy searching out my next book by her. Good reading!
I loved this book! It started off with a school shooting and ended up with a serial killer. It gripped me from the get-go. The characters were interesting and believable. Jessie, the main character had some horrible things happen to her in her life, but she was a strong person. Her husband, Mike, truly loved her. His brother, Ace, was interesting. Loser, Ithought, at first. He really surprised me. This was an intricate and involved plot. And the resolution was especially satisfying. I highly recommend this to anyone who loves a good thriller. Not too graphic, not gory, but tense and scary. Read it! You won't be sorry. I am going to try another of her books.
I have been waiting for a really good book. A look that I sit up late to finish. Doesn't have to be a great book, I am not too fussy, really good is enough. So, this one is just.....not that bad. No surprises, no gripping tension, just another barely average book. Should have been better. So much more could have been made of this story. Survivor of a school shooting spree? Horrible thing surely, but could have been a good, maybe really good story.

But no. Just another nasty sicko mean serial killer and a lady with a bad past. Her story rubbed me wrong. There was a huge thing in her past that she neglected to tell her husband. I cannot accept that. I can suspend belief a lot of the time, but no, not about this. Lost any sympathy I might have felt for her and her plight and her treatment my the reporter.
Jessie a teacher for children mostly with learning disabilities that came from mostly Home situations. She truly became traumatize when a school shooting happened and everyone called her a hero. She lost a friend, a school official, and students. Her husband Mike Just couldn’t understand all she was going thru, and tried to push her out of depression and back into the world when she wasn’t ready. A serial killer noticed her as being called a hero. He then wanted to play his game with her. I don’t want to tell too much, but his game was horrid. I said men are stupid because Mike, and even the Sheriff were inadequate to deal with the situation, and Jessie was forced into the killers game of life and death. I’ll leave it right here now. So just read this book if this is your taste. I’m sure you will love it as much as I did!!!!!
It was a good book. I like a book with strong characters, especially strong women. I had a hard time putting the book down. My only issue with the book was the vernacular. If this took place in the backwoods of the U.S. why was there so much British terminology? Also, while most of the time the characters spoke perfectly fine, out of the blue they would start using double negatives like "ain't" and don't neither". It was almost as if the author would forget this was set in the backwoods and throw in some of these phrases. It also had a lot of British spellings, "favour", "tyres", "pyjamas". I don't mind this when it's actually set n the U.K. It's just annoying when it's supposed to be set in the U.S. Still well worth the read!
